Orly Color Pass Subscription Review

Today I want to share with you an awesome gift that I received from my husband approximately one year ago. The Orly Color Pass nail polish subscription service was given to me by my family for Mother’s Day 2017.

With the Color Pass, you receive a nail polish subscription box once each quarter. Each box features the newest collection released from Orly as well as awesome freebies and occasionally uses. Over this year the extra bonuses included hair scrunchie, makeup primer, makeup setting spray, jewelry, a purse, and so much more. Orly has also included various base coats, top coats, nail jewels, striping tape, and a nail polish bottle holder.

Since being a subscriber for a year here are the pros:

  • Shipping has been phenomenal! The package arrives within 3 business days.
  • Company communication is quick! They answered all my questions in a timely manner and sent shipping notifications for each package.
  • The goodies are great! Yes, the box only comes quarterly but the polishes and gifts are worth waiting for.

The only cons from the subscription were some of the colors throughout the year were similar. Each collection unnecessarily included a variation of a nude frost color. I definitely didn’t need four extremely similar colors.

Overall my year using the Orly Color Pass subscription has been a good one. I’m still debating on whether or not I will renew since I have a lot of polishes already. If you’re interested in trying out this nail polish box then be sure to search for a coupon code.

Make this week colorful,

January 2017 Homeschool Wrap-up

January is always a fun month because we get to review what we have learned in elementary while my preschoolers get started on their new curriculum.  This month I started two new lessons with our preschoolers via SchoolhouseTeachers.com and they have been a hit.  I truly enjoy the creative play that ignites as my toddler and preschooler pretend to have whichever career we are learning about.  It has taken the phrase “use your imagination” to a whole new level of play.  We enjoyed reading the book I Want to Be an Astronaut by Byron Barton, watched several NASA launches via YouTube, and enjoyed seeing real-time footage via their live feed.

Our oldest student at Team Kemp Academy enjoyed reviewing everything we’ve covered from August until December.  We were also able to revisit the countries we’ve visited so far via My Father’s World ECC with a focus on their government to coincide with our presidential inauguration.  To continue our presidency discussion we read the books When Penny Met POTUS by Rachel Ruiz, Grace For President by Kelly DiPucchio, and Arthur Meets the President by Marc Brown.  My favorite book that we read was Grandaddy’s Turn: A Journey to the Ballot Box by Michael S. Bandy and Eric Stein.  I suggest every family borrow it from your local library or purchase it for your home library.  I also had Bear write a schedule of his perfect day with any president, dead or alive, wherewith he played soccer, went to Hollywood, and gave the weather report on the news with George Washington.  I thought he’d pick a different leader; however, he reminded me that nothing is cooler than the FIRST. Touché son, touché.

In addition to sharing our homeschool high points for the month of January, I also included a Dollar Tree haul in a recent video.  I was able to purchase counting blocks, arts and crafts supplies, posters, and a myriad of geometry items for $1.

All in all, January was a success and we look forward to what February has to offer.  I hope you are enjoying our monthly wrap-ups because they have been great encouragement for me on those hard days.  Hold your heads up homeschoolers, every day will not be perfect, but with God (through Jesus Christ) we will see fruit of our labor from sharpening our arrows.

Make this week successful,

SchoolhouseTeachers.com Curriculum Review

Our homeschool, Team KEMP Academy, was given the awesome opportunity to review Yearly Membership with a phenomenal, fully stocked, subscription curriculum website called SchoolhouseTeachers.com.  This website consists of over three hundred courses and resources ranging from preschool to high school covering math, language arts, science, reading, writing, art, music, foreign languages, computer programming and other electives.  But wait, there’s more!  You can also access unit studies, parent’s courses and assistance, bible studies, monthly menus, custom schedules; special needs focused options, and video lessons.  Upon arrival to this site I was a bit overwhelmed, in a great way, by everything that was offered and I can’t wait to share my experience with you.

SchoolhouseTeachers.com has been brought to us by The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine and my favorite part was noting that this website is not aligned with Common Core.  So far we have enjoyed using the Preschool Playground section and have started the ABC: What Will I Be course with our 3 year old, Bam Bam.  I loved the idea of this course because it breaks down the alphabet by careers and introduces children to the letter as well as math, science, sensory play, and crafts for twenty-six careers.  I love setting up the sensory play for the careers and allowing Bam Bam’s imagination to roam as he plays while he learns.  We are also using the Pre-K Activities Read and Play lessons for story time which provide activities and recipes to correspond with local library books, bible stories, and holidays.

As a mom, I’m often reminded that what works for one child, might not work for the next one so I was so excited to see that a myriad of additional resources are provided to ensure the parents and students have smooth transitions to each level of homeschooling.  The Literacy Center provides preparation and reading for preschool through second grade as well as comprehension for third and fourth grades.  I’ve been using this section to prepare poetry lessons for our third grader, Bear, and I love how it breaks down each essential skill for understanding content no matter what the genre.  SchoolhouseTeachers.com also provides each member with a complimentary subscription to World Book e-book Library website and includes a list of classes that correspond with the library.  The Focused Learning Centers provide direct links to courses, lessons, and articles that can aid in educating children that are struggling in specific areas.  In the Special Needs area you will also find articles, tips, encouragement, and a nineteen part program to help families prepare, modify, and adapt lessons to teach their children.  The High School Help area includes information on creating transcripts; assigning credits to courses, taking standardize tests for college, and finding and applying for scholarships.

This website has been a great tool in lesson planning for our next semester of school and family bible study.  I have checked out something new in the Just For Parent’s section each day and found numerous bible studies, marriage enrichment videos, recipes and monthly menus (Yes, one less thing to do!), and homeschooling tips.  I definitely encourage you to consider Yearly Membership and see what all they have to offer your entire family.  There is also a monthly membership option as well as substantial discounts for civil servants, HSLDA or Home Life Academy members, coo-ops and homeschool groups that qualify.

MysteryScience.Com FREE TRIAL

This year we were given an opportunity to try out the newly created, Mystery Science website for FREE.  I quickly welcomed the chance to have this subject completely outlined for me especially because the experiments and instruction are included. Most of the experiments can be done with things you have around your home or that are inexpensive when purchased.

Mystery Science

CONS:  The website is super slooooooowwwwwww.  The videos freeze up each time we used the website and in most cases, we couldn’t get them to work again.  This would happen on every device we used, no matter how great of an internet connection we had.

PROS:  The website had some creative lessons and my son truly enjoyed them.  He retained the provided information perfectly and looked forward to using the website daily.  Because of the ease of use, our 2nd grader was able to go through the lessons on his own with my supervision.

OVERALL:  Due to the daily delay with the website videos, we had to discontinue use of the website and switch to another curriculum.  We also tried to use the website as a Science supplement; however, the freezing didn’t stop as the website was updated and we preferred not to download the videos.  The website is EXCELLENT, but the frequent delay was the deciding factor to choose a different curriculum for next year.

For a demonstration for this website and how we used it, check out my recent video.

You still have an opportunity to use Mystery Science for FREE via their website.  Though it didn’t work for our homeschool, I’d suggest you try it out to see if your class or children can benefit from it.

**UPDATE 8/17/16**  I did speak to the support team of Mystery Science and they were able to offer some assistance and getting the videos to play better.  Their customer service is exquisite and support team is truly awesome.  We have already decided on a different Science for next year but look forward to trying this company’s program in the future.  For details on the conversation, results, and information about the improved video player check out the updated video below.  As of August 2016, the FREE YEAR SUBSCRIPTION is still available.

Happy homeschooling!

Make this week magnificent,

Chronicles of #theLASTbaby

Shortly after our youngest son turned two, we were blessed with the great news that we were going to have another bundle of joy in 2015.  In January of that year we made our fun pregnancy announcement video, and soon thereafter, we got a chance to meet, snuggle, and love on #theLASTbaby.  I kept up with pregnancy updates, as best as I could, via my YouTube channel; however, my blog didn’t get much attention that year.  It was always my intention to share a quick blog update especially for my WordPress family but that third baby was my fifth pregnancy, and I was COMPLETELY WORN OUT for 99.9% of the time.  Princess definitely made her mark as #theLASTbaby and was absolutely worth, as all children are, the pain, pelvic stretching, nausea, all day sickness, constant tears, mood swings, skin changes, and contractions.  It is so funny how once you see those innocent eyes, tiny fingers and toes, and hear that faint cry; you forget every pain and are consumed with pure love.

Though these fun videos may be late, okay they are super-duper late to WordPress; each one is precious to me because we overcame so much during this season of our lives.  In the grand scheme of everything that exists, life is truly short, and every moment should be appreciated and used as an opportunity to become better.  That’s what this pregnancy did for us.  Each and every time we thought we couldn’t deal with another brick, life would happen, but thank God (the father of Jesus) for his perfect peace and guidance.  We came out stronger on the other side and had a beautiful princess to enjoy as a result of our obedience to The Most High.

Below, you will find the chronicles of #theLASTbaby and I hope you enjoy every video.  Also, take a moment to think about how your life has changed during 2016, since 2015, or throughout the 2000s.  Remember that thing you thought was going to take you out of here, ruin everything, and keep you from rebuilding?  Well, I don’t know the details but you are still here so clearly, you survived.  I also hope your faith in Christ grew; you gained wisdom, and are using your testimonies to share the goodness of God.

Life isn’t always easy, but in our family we love our lifestyle and keep it CHRIST style!

Make this week remarkable,

~Ta’Neisha K.

Short Hair, Don’t Care #Fabulous

I came across the Sensationnel Fab Fringe unit several years ago when it was all the rage on YouTube.  Short hair in itself wasn’t new to me because I loved wearing my hair short when I was in junior high and High School.   Toni Braxton was super popular back then and everybody tried to rock her short look.   Unlike those who failed miserably at their attempt or barely pulled it off, I looked good!  But, even with that extra boost of confidence, I remember being so scared of trying Fab Fringe.

Short wigs can look phenomenal when styled right, but if you fail to cater the unit to you a disaster will be sitting on your head.  Another problem with short wigs that they usually make you look much older than you actually are.  However, the solution is simple, once you try the unit on be sure to make the time to style and adjust it according to your facial features.  If you do this immediately, the unit will look good the entire time you own it.

I love Fab Fringe because it it comes in a myriad of colors and can be styled various ways. I also love that it is human hair so it can be washed and will last years if you take care of it. My first Fab Fringe unit is 6 years old and it still looks great.

To see me style this unit in various ways, check out my recent video.

This unit is still available on various online beauty supoly stores, including Samsbeauty.comWigTypes.com, and Amazon.

Per the styling video, you can see that I’ve got plenty of short wig confidence. I loved this unit so much, I tried several more. You can also see me in other short wigs via the videos below.

#BrowGameStrong but Brunette STILL isn’t dark enough

I was super excited when I came across this a new product from wet and wild called Ultimate Brow Mascara. I picked up the darkest color they offered which was for brunettes and did my best to get it to work for me. In order to have the perfect color match I also used a black mascara to darken the product. I love the formula of it because it is light and not cakey; however, I wish that it did come in a color that is similar to their mink brown eyeliner pencil.

I believe this product is great for filling in a natural brown without taking away from the original beauty. I also really appreciate that it fills and sets your eyebrows in one step.  Overall I give this product 4/5 due to the ease of application and formula. I’d recommend it to makeup beginners and any woman looking for a quick brow enhancing product.

Now Wet’n’Wild, you’ve made me grin with your new product but let’s go darker. My brow game is strong but brunette STILL isn’t dark enough for most women of color. Update the colors and that missing star might just magically appear.

For a quick tutorial featuring this product, check out my recent video.

Make this week simply Brow-tastic,
