Our Preschoolers LOVE Starfall!

Our preschoolers have truly enjoyed the games, activities, and fun to be had with this interactive program, created by Starfall Education Foundation. We had the opportunity to review The Starfall Home Membership and have appreciated the easy access and great benefits.

You might recognize Starfall because they have a myriad of children’s apps available right now. Actually, upon accepting this review opportunity I never realized how many of them my children were already using. The great thing is that most of the apps they currently offer are FREE; however, you only receive a sample of the content. By becoming a member your children instantly obtain unlimited access to all the activities. Currently, Starfall offers reading, math, and games for preschool through first grade as well second grade math.

While using this program I have found that both our four-year-old and two-year-old can operate it easily. We initially decided to use this app three times each week but that quickly grew to daily use. With Bam Bam, our oldest preschooler, I focused the majority of his time on math and reading activities. He liked following along in the books by using the highlighted words and pictures. I often found him sharing books, without the read aloud feature, and teaching his little sister. The math also excites him and he liked practicing numbers, counting, geometry, measurement, patterns, creating calendars, and singing the songs.

“I like starfall! I like to make the gingerbread boy, making the pumpkin, and the silly turkey. The snowman is so funny! The books are helping me a little but I’m still learning. I like to make the boy, pick his costume, and pet. Starfall is my favorite thing on mama’s phone.” Kyle, 4 years old.

With princess I allowed her to have a bit more freedom in her exploration of this amaxing app. She had so much fun handling it on her own. I could definitely tell that she felt like a big girl going from game to game all by herself. She spent most of her time learning ABC’s, making gingerbread girls, and singing songs.

“I like to build the girl. I like to build the pumpkin. I love my gingerbread girl. The games are fun. The turkey is cool. I want to build things every day.” Trinity, 2 years old

The annual Starfall Home Membership is a single account that can be used by every child in your immediate family. You can download app on multiple devices, and yes, even grandparents can access it during your membership. The entire family uses one email and password to authorize the website on any computer or download the Starfall App for Android, Kindle, or iOS systems. Our family also loved that your $35 annual Home Membership fee is 100% tax deductible as a contribution to the extent allowed by law.

I’ve already shared information about the awesome benefits of this inexpensive The Starfall Home Membership with my friends and family. Cheers to Starfall Education Foundation for doing a fantastic job creating an awesome interactive experience for young children.

Bible & ABC Curriculum for Preschoolers

Crafty Classroom 5

Our preschoolers have been enjoying the Bible ABC Curriculum Notebook by The Crafty Classroom.  This is a product review that I’ve been anxiously awaiting to share with all my readers, especially those that teach in a school or church setting.  So, let’s skip the small talk and dive right into the details about this product and the creative company that offers it.

 Crafty Classroom 3

The Bible ABC Curriculum Notebook consists of over six hundred pages of awesomeness, which include assembly and teaching instructions, activities, games, and weekly lesson plans for the entire alphabet.  Initially, I was wondering if there was a bible theme that coincides with every letter of our alphabet; however, upon downloading the pdf file, I was pleasantly surprised.  First, the instructions provided to the parent/teacher are detailed and include answers to any questions you might ask.  I love that the weekly lesson plan was already done for me and included scriptures, math, reading, games, and weekly themes surrounding a person from the bible or a vocabulary word.  This curriculum also provided detailed attention to the character of God which was such an excellent addition because it allowed Bam Bam, 3, and Princess, 2, to learn more about the God we serve.  As we’ve used this curriculum they’ve learned that God is a loving, creative, truthful, protective father and so much more which made my heart smile.  For the bible story and scriptures we used the ESV version of the bible and I also reread the story on Fridays from a library book or a children’s bible.

But wait, there’s more! The curriculum also provides writing practice including a writing chart, which we laminated for continued use; scripture copy work pages, letter tracing sheets, and even a blank space for older preschoolers or kindergarteners to write their name.  Bam Bam was so excited to have his first official math worksheet too!  He was happy to count dots, letters, and other items as he learned addition.  Over the course of the curriculum the problems get more challenging and introduce other math concepts to the students.  Princess had the most fun coloring because she is learning the names of the colors so I was happy as she started to recognize the crayons instead of randomly reaching for them.  Now, you know I also had to have Bear join in, so he was in charge of playing the provided games with the children.  Being a junior engineer himself, he enjoyed finding various ways to make the spinner for the Race to the Top game more efficient and he made the bingo game more fun by adding reward candy for completing the activity.

 Crafty Classroom 6

All in all, the Team KEMP Academy truly enjoyed using the Bible ABC Curriculum Notebook by The Crafty Classroom with our newly two and three year old children.  I think this will be a great addition to any homeschool that has preschoolers or kindergarteners that are learning to read.  This would also be useful in a Sunday School setting for younger children and depending on the time allotted, you can easily split the activities up to be used over two Sundays. The Crafty Classroom also offers an Alphabet Curriculum Notebook and a Learn to R.E.A.D. Curriculum Notebook geared towards younger students.

But, don’t just take my word for it!  Head on over to the Homeschool Review Crew blog post, via this crafty hyperlink, to read additional reviews on various products offered by The Crafty Classroom.   Our faith is the most important thing that we can share with our children and it is required in the Bible that we should “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6”  This Bible ABC Curriculum Notebook is a wonderful start to your children’s faith training.

 Make this week joyful,
