Makeup May! Sweet Spring FOTD

Happy Makeup May and welcome to my first Makeup Monday!

Over the years I have tried my best to sprinkle in some of my favorite beauty items and reviews. Now, I think it is time for much more makeup! To start off Makeup May I wanted to share a recent face of the day (FOTD).

This look is my go to, Liner, Lashes, & Lips from my mommy makeup series. The entire looks usually takes me 5-10 minutes at most, depending on whether I define my brows and add lashes. The whole process includes primer, foundation or bb cream, and setting my face with powder. If I have an extra two minutes I might highlight with concealer and bake while doing the next step.

For the liner portion of this look, I combined Wet N Wild blue liquid and black glitter fantasy maker liner. I applied the blue liner first and immediately added the glitter eyeliner to it. This gave me the dark navy line with a hint of sparkle. The fantasy maker items are only sold during October but they do sell another black glitter eyeliner all year.

Usually, the lashes only include mascara but I occasionally add falsies for flare. Today was definitely a flare day! Currently, my favorite lashes are the Wispy style by Broadway. These lashes add flare and I love how they aren’t perfect like natural lashes. These add great length, are very inexpensive, and extremely lightweight.

On my cheeks, I did add so glow with a few swipes of highlight and blush. Today’s blush is a mix of the darker colors in the BH Cosmetics Professional Blush – 10 Color Blush Palette. I always tap into several colors when using this palette. I used the Wet N Wild Mega Glo Loose Highlighting Powder to brighten up my T-zone.

Finally, on my lips, I’m wearing LA Colors Oh So Shiny lip color in the shade Radiant. I picked up the entire set of these lippies from eBay. I love that they are shiny because I was a bit over the matte phase. These lipsticks add sheen and glow to your perfect pout.

To see how I throw together a similar Liner, Lashes, and Lips look watch my recent video.

Hope you enjoyed this look!

Massive Makeup Declutter

#Random Over the past few months I’ve given away 35 lbs of makeup and 17 lbs of nail polish.  My polish collection was cut down tremendously but my makeup collection doesn’t look like it has been touched.  ūüėē However, after Christmas I’ve set a goal to be back down to one drawer stand instead of 2.  Either way, Kevin is surprised because I passed it on WITHOUT replenishing, which has NEVER happened in our 9 years and 363 days of marriage. Like, NEVER, ever, ever!

This massive declutter came about after realizing that I wasn’t enjoying makeup anymore. I only do a full face on the weekends so for 2 days a week, I don’t need all of that stuff.  I also decided that I wasn’t going to buy anymore unless it was a necessity. I had a horrible habit of  overbuying what I like and I needed to be set free. Self-control, come through ASAP!!!

Said all that to say, never underestimate the power of the purge.  This year I went into EXTREME mode with the household declutter but, I’m so glad I did it.  Only a few more things to sort through and I will be done.  The energy  (don’t let the word scare you, I’m still saved) in our house feels so much better!  I feel so much better and not obligated to consume every new thing that comes on the market.  Again, I have self-control!

This month my feature on the Homeschooling With Heart blog speaks on our homeschool purge and I hope it also encourages you.  You can also read more about my household declutter process via this previous blog post.

So, let me slide this “no buy” in as an early anniversary gift for my husband.  So, I WILL NOT PURCHASE another beauty product until I RUN COMPLETELY OUT of what I currently have.  I plan on going forth with this no buy from November 1, 2017 until June 2018.  During this time, my goal is to REMOVE THE EXCESS so I can effectively and efficiently use what I already have.

I implore every reader to declutter before the end of the year.  Go through your life and declutter toxic or unnecessary relationships, bad habits, and negative thoughts while you conquer the closets.  Allow God to guide you through a true cleaning session and I promise you will not regret it. Remember, your home is a living space, not a storage space.

Make this week grand,

The ULTIMATE Brow Blog

This post is your all in one stop for everything that has to do with grooming, filling in, and shaping your eyebrows.¬† I have several product review and tutorials that I’ve filmed over the years so sit back, eat your favorite snack, and enjoy this ULTIMATE brow blog.

Brow blog 1

EYEBROW GROOMING for me is extremely simple.  I just apply some razorless cream shave to certain areas while my brows are filled in and wipe off the product after three to five minutes.  You can learn about this product via my detailed review and my updated brow grooming routine videos.

FILLING IN MY BROWS varies depending on the look I’m going for and the amount of time I have to apply my makeup.¬† Sometimes the fill in process takes three minutes and other times it takes ten minutes but¬†that is¬†only when I am going for a super detailed full face.¬† Here are a few tutorials featuring some of my favorite eyebrow products and methods.

Perfect Beginner Tutorial

Reverse Method (applying concealer and then filling in)

Wet n Wild Eyebrow Mascara

Hopefully you were able to pick up some new tips or reminded of things you used to do that worked well for your eyebrow routine.¬† I’m not saying every makeup application has to have pristine eyebrows HOWEVER, I do believe that taking an extra minute to fill them in doesn’t hurt.¬† You can see me complete a FULL FACE featuring the popular “no makeup, makeup look” in this tutorial and the eyebrow portion only took one minute.

Havana is SENSATIONNEL!!

Okay, I just want to start this product rave by saying yes, I do know how to spell sensational but I used the company’s name to describe how beautiful this unit is.

I have the Havana unit by Sensationnel in the colors 1B (off black) and in the color DXR991 which is an ombre with black roots and burgundy ends.  I have enjoyed wearing these units so much because they are easy to style, maintain, and even blend perfectly with my hair texture.  These units are gorgeous and give me that BIG HAIR, DON’T CARE attitude with a stride to match.

If you want to see me rocking the ombre black/burgundy unit then check out this video

My 4 Go-To Makeup Looks

Makeup has become one of my favorite hobbies and I definitely enjoy collecting cute pieces, perfecting application on myself, and applying it to others. Now of course nothing is more comfortable than a fresh face; however, I love to simply enhance my own beauty with some key looks.¬† I also enjoy the smile and priceless reaction from women when I give them the perfect “beat” face.¬† So here are my four quick and go-to makeup looks along with examples via recent tutorial and/or face of the day (fotd) video.

4 Go-To Makeup Looks 1

This beauty list is in no particular order because they are all equally awesome, fantastic, and gorgeous.

  1. MONOCHROMATIC eyeshadow looks good on all women but I think it looks featuring BLUE, PURPLE, and TURQUOISE eyeshadow PHENOMENAL on women of color.¬† My favorite purple palettes are the BH Cosmetics 120 5th Edition and the Coastal Scents Winterberry¬† because both offer a variety of gorgeous variations within the purple family.¬† My favorite blue and turquoise eyeshadows are Chaos (bright blue matte) and Unhinged (metallic shimmer turquoise) form the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette.¬† I also like Dalia and Zola from the Juvia’s Place Masquerade palette because the pigmentation is outstanding.

2.¬† MODEST GLAM is another makeup look I love to rock because alone it gives a subtle sexy vibe and can easily be dressed up by adding some extra smoke. This type of look is great for date nights because it screams “romance me husband” and “I’m yours” especially in the moonlight.¬† For these looks I love the velvety texture of the Lorac palettes including the Lorac Pro and Lorac Mega Pro collections.

3.  BARE FACED BEAUTY is definitely one of my top four because the No Makeup, Makeup Look is the perfect way to enhance your natural beauty.  I really like to wear this look with either a completely natural vibe without any blush or highlight or with extra highlight alongside a light flush (soft blush application). I usually call these looks my mommy makeup because it literally takes my 5-7 minutes to complete it from start to finish.  This was my favorite makeup look during all of my pregnancies.

4.  RED CARPET READY is for when I want to go ALL OUT! These looks definitely bring out the oooos, ahhhs, and plenty of compliments.  I save these looks for weddings, celebrations, or a random Tuesday when I have the extra time.  Oh and 9 times out of 10 these looks include glitter and lashes galore.

I hope you enjoyed this quick look at several ways I frequently apply my makeup.  As the trends change with the times I am certain these looks will never go out of style. After all, the Monochromatic, Modest Glam, Bare Faced Beauty, and Red Carpet ready looks are timeless classics and should be respected as such.

So tell me in the comment section, what’s your favorite (go-to) makeup look?

Glitter Makes EVERYTHING better!!

I remember the day I was first introduced to my “glitter” and how it changed everything.¬† It was a sweltering hot day in July and after some labor pains, I got a chance to hold my “glitter” in my arms and we named her Princess.¬† Every since she has been in our lives things have been even more lively, colorful, and joyful.¬† Even during my pregnancy I would tell people, I can’t wait until she gets here so I can have some extra glitter in my life and Princess has done just that.

20160605_103255

To most people reading the title you’d think I was talking about actual “glitter” but don’t fret, I kind of am. My definition of “glitter” is anyone that adds a sparkle to your life or makes you want to be better. My family does that for me but I must admit, having my own Princess steps everything up to a “whole notha level.” ¬†I push extra hard to be a great wife and mother because we’re raising a future one via my mini me. ¬†I want her to know that her mother led by example through faith and deed so she will be able to do the same for her family. ¬†Life before Princess was great, but having her here definitely adds much more sparkle, laughter, and glitter to our lives.

For those of you that thought this post was literally about actual glitter, enjoy this recent eyeshadow tutorial.

My Yves Saint Laurent Lipstick Collection

I recently received some beautiful lipsticks via Influenster in the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vox Box.  These lippies go on smooth, aren’t drying, and have great staying power.  Both shades have become my go to, especially on days that I wear a bare face.

I also love the gorgeous packaging on these lipsticks.  They can be found online or in your local Sephora, Nordstrom, or Saks Fifth Avenue.  To check out these beauties and additional details on them, watch my recent video.
