Makeup May! Sweet Spring FOTD

Happy Makeup May and welcome to my first Makeup Monday!

Over the years I have tried my best to sprinkle in some of my favorite beauty items and reviews. Now, I think it is time for much more makeup! To start off Makeup May I wanted to share a recent face of the day (FOTD).

This look is my go to, Liner, Lashes, & Lips from my mommy makeup series. The entire looks usually takes me 5-10 minutes at most, depending on whether I define my brows and add lashes. The whole process includes primer, foundation or bb cream, and setting my face with powder. If I have an extra two minutes I might highlight with concealer and bake while doing the next step.

For the liner portion of this look, I combined Wet N Wild blue liquid and black glitter fantasy maker liner. I applied the blue liner first and immediately added the glitter eyeliner to it. This gave me the dark navy line with a hint of sparkle. The fantasy maker items are only sold during October but they do sell another black glitter eyeliner all year.

Usually, the lashes only include mascara but I occasionally add falsies for flare. Today was definitely a flare day! Currently, my favorite lashes are the Wispy style by Broadway. These lashes add flare and I love how they aren’t perfect like natural lashes. These add great length, are very inexpensive, and extremely lightweight.

On my cheeks, I did add so glow with a few swipes of highlight and blush. Today’s blush is a mix of the darker colors in the BH Cosmetics Professional Blush – 10 Color Blush Palette. I always tap into several colors when using this palette. I used the Wet N Wild Mega Glo Loose Highlighting Powder to brighten up my T-zone.

Finally, on my lips, I’m wearing LA Colors Oh So Shiny lip color in the shade Radiant. I picked up the entire set of these lippies from eBay. I love that they are shiny because I was a bit over the matte phase. These lipsticks add sheen and glow to your perfect pout.

To see how I throw together a similar Liner, Lashes, and Lips look watch my recent video.

Hope you enjoyed this look!

Orly Color Pass Subscription Review

Today I want to share with you an awesome gift that I received from my husband approximately one year ago. The Orly Color Pass nail polish subscription service was given to me by my family for Mother’s Day 2017.

With the Color Pass, you receive a nail polish subscription box once each quarter. Each box features the newest collection released from Orly as well as awesome freebies and occasionally uses. Over this year the extra bonuses included hair scrunchie, makeup primer, makeup setting spray, jewelry, a purse, and so much more. Orly has also included various base coats, top coats, nail jewels, striping tape, and a nail polish bottle holder.

Since being a subscriber for a year here are the pros:

  • Shipping has been phenomenal! The package arrives within 3 business days.
  • Company communication is quick! They answered all my questions in a timely manner and sent shipping notifications for each package.
  • The goodies are great! Yes, the box only comes quarterly but the polishes and gifts are worth waiting for.

The only cons from the subscription were some of the colors throughout the year were similar. Each collection unnecessarily included a variation of a nude frost color. I definitely didn’t need four extremely similar colors.

Overall my year using the Orly Color Pass subscription has been a good one. I’m still debating on whether or not I will renew since I have a lot of polishes already. If you’re interested in trying out this nail polish box then be sure to search for a coupon code.

Make this week colorful,

Throwback Review: LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints

I realized that I have went this entire month without talking about makeup. Today, I am so excited to do a throwback post featuring a product that I have loved for years and still used today, LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints. These lip products go on smoothly and dry with a beautiful sheen to them. I love the array of colors included in the collection and was so excited to purchase all of them via a eBay.

I love that these come in a variety of colors that compliment every complexion and mood. The price point of these beauties is good especially because you can purchase them in a full set online. Finally, I enjoy that they can be worn year round, do not dry your lips, and a compliment any type of makeup. You do need a lip liner with these beauties because they do have a tendency to get everywhere. I also advise that you apply them sparingly and build-up the color to ensure that you do not put too much on your lips.

Even though I recently purged my make up collection and did give several of these away, I made sure to keep my favorite colors, which I model for you in this video.

You can purchase these lippies in local and online beauty supply stores, ULTA, eBay, the LA Girl website, iKateHouse, and other various retailers. The price for these varies so shop around for the deal that fits your budget.

So, have you tried these oldies but goodies? Tell me your thoughts in the comment section.

Make this week glam,

Perfect Pout 💋 (Lip Scrubs)

I wanted to share a staple lip product that I’ve been using for a few years.  This lip scrub has surpassed others because it is extra coarse and the finely milled ingredients are able to truly smooth your lips during the harsh winter season.  I enjoy sugar scrubs and use those daily but once a week (twice in the winter) I prefer the Beauty Treats Walnut Lip Scrub. I love the consistency of the product, being that you get more exfoliation from it, and the cost can’t be beat.

You can purchase the Beauty Treats Walnut Lip Scrubs from your local beauty supply and various online retailers.  Currently the price ranges from $2-$4 individually or as a four piece set for $7-$9.  The Beauty Treats Sugar Scrubs retail for $1-$3 individually or $6-$9 as a set.

I hope you enjoyed this quick look at some great lip scrubs. If store bought isn’t your thing, then I have a quick DIY for you. You can create your own organic lip scrubs with items you already have in your kitchen.  Just use sugar or salt, an oil of your choice,  and some essential oil or extract for fragrance. You can get the ingredients list and see this quick process in my DIY LIP SCRUB tutorial video.

Here’s to having the perfect pout all year long!  (And here’s to sweet kisses with the ones you love.)

Metallic Halo Eyeshadow & FOTD

Halo Eye for IG

I am definitely an Urban Decay fan! I love the quality of their products and how well they work on all complexions.  My makeup collection is filled with Urban Decay makeup so it was only fitting that husband bought me their newest holiday palette, Heavy Metals.  In this recent YouTube video you can find swatches and my detailed review.

For a bit of added fun, I created this holiday look featuring eyeshadows from the Lorac Mega Pro 4 palette and the Urban Decay Heavy Metals palette.  I also included details on my foundation and glowing highlight in the face of the day video.

Enjoy this holiday season,

Ta’Neisha K.

Let’s Review It: Lorac Mega PRO 4 Palette

Prior to my no buy, I purchased a few makeup items and I wanted to share a quick review of each one.  Today you can see a close up and swatches of the Lorac Mega Pro 4 palette along with my review via this recent YouTube video.

This Lorac palette definitely has lots of color options to choose from and I am glad to have it in my collection.  With the holiday season upon us, be sure to wait for a coupon code before you purchase any new makeup.  I know you want the new products in your hand but I promise it will be worth the wait and worth the money saved in the end.

Massive Makeup Declutter

#Random Over the past few months I’ve given away 35 lbs of makeup and 17 lbs of nail polish.  My polish collection was cut down tremendously but my makeup collection doesn’t look like it has been touched.  😕 However, after Christmas I’ve set a goal to be back down to one drawer stand instead of 2.  Either way, Kevin is surprised because I passed it on WITHOUT replenishing, which has NEVER happened in our 9 years and 363 days of marriage. Like, NEVER, ever, ever!

This massive declutter came about after realizing that I wasn’t enjoying makeup anymore. I only do a full face on the weekends so for 2 days a week, I don’t need all of that stuff.  I also decided that I wasn’t going to buy anymore unless it was a necessity. I had a horrible habit of  overbuying what I like and I needed to be set free. Self-control, come through ASAP!!!

Said all that to say, never underestimate the power of the purge.  This year I went into EXTREME mode with the household declutter but, I’m so glad I did it.  Only a few more things to sort through and I will be done.  The energy  (don’t let the word scare you, I’m still saved) in our house feels so much better!  I feel so much better and not obligated to consume every new thing that comes on the market.  Again, I have self-control!

This month my feature on the Homeschooling With Heart blog speaks on our homeschool purge and I hope it also encourages you.  You can also read more about my household declutter process via this previous blog post.

So, let me slide this “no buy” in as an early anniversary gift for my husband.  So, I WILL NOT PURCHASE another beauty product until I RUN COMPLETELY OUT of what I currently have.  I plan on going forth with this no buy from November 1, 2017 until June 2018.  During this time, my goal is to REMOVE THE EXCESS so I can effectively and efficiently use what I already have.

I implore every reader to declutter before the end of the year.  Go through your life and declutter toxic or unnecessary relationships, bad habits, and negative thoughts while you conquer the closets.  Allow God to guide you through a true cleaning session and I promise you will not regret it. Remember, your home is a living space, not a storage space.

Make this week grand,

Ta’Neisha K
