You. Are. Beautiful.

Earlier this week Princess was chatting with Kevin and he asked: “Who’s the prettiest girl in the whole wide world?” She proudly responded, “ME AM!” This moment had me completely amazed because even in her toddler language she could proudly express that she was loved. I enjoy watching her beam with confidence because her father finds her completely beautiful. Even when he disciplines her, Kevin always reminds her of how valuable she is. It is such a blessing to watch her receive the same loving kindness I have over the years.

Moments like these can just be appreciated naturally because they are so precious. You can also take the spiritual application and be reminded that your confidence should come from your father. Your father is there to love you completely and discipline you appropriately because you are beautiful to him. My confidence has never been in question because my father instilled those values consistently. I am so grateful for my loving father and I know I am beautiful to him.

On the other hand, there are those that did not have the best (or any depending on the circumstances) relationship with their father. I can only imagine the wounds that come from the situations but do note that everyone has issues with their parents growing up. Also, find hope that though your physical father may not be up to par your spiritual Father will never fail you. His love transcends time, space, and long before you were even created he has loved you perfectly. You too should walk with confidence because you are beautiful to Him.

One of the best gifts we have as Christians is God the father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ. We are beautiful because we were designed in the image of the creator of all things. God has parented us well before our own parents were created and that simply blows my mind! He gifted us the Holy Spirit to guide us, speak truth to us, and strengthen us to speak truth to others. Most importantly he gifted a salvation through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of his son, Jesus Christ. Even in correction, God’s love is shown because the word clearly states time and time again that discipline is love.

Finally, I know that God believes that we are beautiful because of forgiveness, grace, and mercy. None of these things are deserved but the Lord freely gives them to us a myriad of times. Then after we use those up he comes in and does it again. He is the perfect epitome of the definition of love. He is patient. He is kind. He is faithful. He is God.

I could go on forever about how amazing he is! But instead, I will leave you with a reminder from the little girl in my home (and the little girl inside of me). Look up at your Father and smile sweetly because you are loved and beautiful.

You can catch some more precious moments with our Princess via this recent YouTube video.

Make this week grand,

Ta’Neisha K.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16‭-‬17 KJV

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

9 Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? Hebrews 12:5‭-‬6‭, ‬9 KJV

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day. Psalm 139:13‭-‬16 MSG

Body Talk: Love Your Selfie!

I posted this in 2015 and was encouraged all the more when it came across my Facebook memories a few weeks ago.

“Random FYI: It frustrates me to see photos from high school and remember how I thought that I was “fat.”  All women do it.  Ladies of all ages, embrace your bodies and every mark on it.  If you don’t like it then do the work to change it but never self shame.  I love all of me!  This body beat graves disease!  This body birthed and nursed 3 super cool children and carried precious angel babies!  This body is awesome now and will still be awesome as I lose weight!  Love your WHOLE self. Change if necessary but never stop loving you.

So, that is my tip for today and actually the reason I wanted to encourage you all to love your selfie this month.  Embrace every part of your body, without shame and be grateful that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Most High God.  If you want to change how you look then feel free to; however, adjust your body to be healthier and live longer, not for vanity or out of self pity.

I recently participated in a YouVersion bible reading plan called Captured & Crowned: 7 Days of Promises  during which you read about God’s view of you, understand your Christ-centered value, and obtain a sense of esteem based on biblical principles.  We enjoyed this reading plan and I decided to share one of the prayers from the study.

“God, forgive me for complaining about the body you have given me.  It is a blessing to be able to walk, talk, breathe and hear.  There are so many people who can’t do those things.  I want to take a fresh new look at my body image in a way that honors you. Help me to praise you for each and every part of me.  Also, help me to work on my inner beauty even more than I do the outside. Thank you for the gift of my physical body. Amen” **obtained from Day 2 of Captured & Crowned: 7 Days Of Promises  via YouVersion**

Our 2018 Homeschool Goals & Resolutions

Usually people are excited about going into January with new goals in place but by the middle of the month, most have moved away from them.  I use January as a time of reflection, fasting, and separation from social media to clear my head.  After this time I set my goals and resolutions for the new year and I get going to meet and exceed them.   Since February is about love, I thought I’d share a special tip each week on how you can “Love Your Selfie” better in 2018.  This week’s tips is to simply set S.M.A.R.T. goals and begin the work towards achieving them.

Love your selfie 1

Goal setting is simply a measured form of setting a resolution because you will be able to check your progress via timeframes and completed steps as you work towards it.  Whether the personal, professional, or spiritual part of your life, there should always be a goal you are working towards.  Your goals should be specific, measureable, achievable (attainable), relevant, and time bound (traceable).  Remember to express your goals positively and repeat them aloud often.  Write them down and hang them somewhere in your home that is part of your daily and frequent line of sight.  Furthermore, set precise dates to measure your achievement and celebrate once you’ve completed it.

Homeschool Resolutions 3

I recently found this on social media and thought I’d share this quick yet fun activity.  **Disclaimer: Now, this is only an activity and should only be used as your set goals or resolutions if you deem the statements applicable to where you are or desire to be.** It is my hope that this little activity makes you laugh, smile, and ignites your passion for accomplishing great things in 2018!

I just love the predictive text posts I’ve been seeing lately and I thought this one was perfect way to set some cute and quirky homeschool goals/resolutions.  Initially I used the original formula to create these three sentences:

  • Be a little faster than the last one.
  • Be a lot of money to the other side of the world.
  • Be the best sales people in The Lone Star State. (this applies to husband)
  • Be the best option that he enjoys.

I used my device to write so my predictive text includes a myriad of long phrases in addition to the words.  I decided to just start with “Be” and create a few more sentences which I felt were spot on for my current season. Here are the additional ones I came up with:

  • Be more about our homeschooling.
  • Be a great idea to the other side of the world.
  • Be encouraged by preschoolers watching ABC Mouse and the dialogue.
  • Be sure to see how your day was filled with phenomenal memories.
  • Be safe from dangers seen and heard.

Though this activity was meant to be fun I believe I created the perfect combination of achievement possibilities for Team KEMP Academy.  I felt so inspired that I decided to appropriately rewrite these (as suggested above) in my planners and adopt them as our resolutions for 2018.  I’ve actually already started setting things in motion to ensure we achieve each one.

Homeschool Resolutions 2

Now it is your turn to complete the activity.  To reflect the image used earlier, the formula is:

  1. Be a lot…
  2. Be a little…
  3. Be the best…

Type those first words and then use predictive text until you have a complete sentence.

So, what cute, quirky, or accurate resolutions did you come up with?  Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Make this year successful,

Ta’Neisha K.

Merry CHRISTmas

christmas 2017 8

Merry Christmas!!  Yes, despite the few comments and many emails received due to this holiday blog post, our household still celebrates Christmas and all the joy that comes with the season.  The month of December was filled with joy, celebration, vacations, and family memories and we can’t wait to share our accomplishments with you.

christmas 2017 6

Here is the list of awesome accomplishments from December:

  1. We completed five Science projects!  This was a fun month for science and all the children had so much fun conducting experiments on their level.
  2. We attended several Christmas parties via friends, family, and church throughout the month.  We even hosted our own Holiday Pajama Party on Christmas Eve.
  3. I lesson planned, and lesson planned, and lesson planned some more!
  4. We managed to laugh and smile through the holiday season a lot more than we thought we would.  Losing a loved ones, no matter when, is hard but we are grateful for the comfort of God as we made it through our first Christmas without Pops, my husband’s father who passed in July, and Great Pa-Pa, my grandfather who passed at the beginning of December. As 2017 comes to an end, I implore each of you to love on ALL (yes, I mean ALL) of your family, make time to make memories, and take lots of pictures. Time is our most valuable currency as well as our most precious commodity and inestimable asset.  Every one should make family time a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly priority because life, no matter how long, is truly short

christmas 2017 7

Father God, thank you for the reader of my blog posts and viewers of the YouTube videos because their support has afforded a myriad of opportunities and for that I am truly grateful.  Thank you for family, friends, and all the memories we have made with them this year.  Thank you for the year 2017!  It might not have been perfect but strengthening our obedience to your will and growth in your word was worth every obstacle encountered.  Thank you for the every year ending with reminders to be thankful in November and to spread CHRISTmas joy in December! And finally Lord, thank you for the birth, life, death, and subsequent resurrection of your son Jesus Christ through which we have immediate access to salvation.  Just as you did this year, and in every moment of time prior, we trust you to guide us into and through 2018 because we can accomplish nothing without you.  In the name of Jesus, Amen

christmas 2017 9

We accomplished a lot more but I think that’s enough to share for now.  This is the last blog post for 2017 and I pray that it finds you all in the best of health, strength, and faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for each and every person that has supported my hobby this year and hope you found encouragement, laughs, and learned a few new things. I can’t wait to see what next year brings!

See you in 2018,

Ta’Neisha K.

Christmas FREEBIES Near You

christmas 2017 1

I thought the holiday season deserved an extra blog post this week featuring some FREE or low cost activities you can attend in your area.  Now of course the names might be slightly different but the general idea of the activity will definitely be the same.  Let’s dive into this year’s fun list wherewith you’ll be sure to find some fun things in your area to enjoy while making Christmas and New Year memories.  Keep reading because there might be a FREE Christmas Fun Checklist printable link available within this post.

christmas 2017 2

Christmas Freebies & Holiday Fun List:

  • Trail of Lights: You will be surprised how creative minds can turn local city parks, race tracks, or on large plots of land in your area into a glowing tribute to the Christmas holiday.  In our area most of the trails cost approximately $5 per car or require a donation of goods to a local charity.  There are some walk through trails but we prefer to drive through the trail while eating warm baked treats and drinking hot chocolate.
  • Look in the Library:  Local libraries are also known for hosting monthly FREE activities for “kids from 1 to 92.”  At our library there is weekly story time, knitting groups, chess tournaments, book clubs, crafts for children, teens and adults, Christmas science classes, and even homeschool meet ups all available for FREE.  This information should be available on your local library’s website or social media pages.

christmas 2017 3

  • Stores Offer More:  Did you know that some of your favorite stores might offer free classes or activities during this season?  Holiday themed story time at Barnes and Noble, Pottery Barn, and a few locally owned book stores is always a fun way to spend our time off from school during Winter Break.  We have also attended free or low cost holiday themed craft workshops at Lego, Michaels, and Home Depot.
  • Chick-fil-a Christmas Rocks:  This eatery is known for hosting activity nights throughout the year but during this season you might be cable to catch a week of FREE breakfast giveaways as well as free entrée gift card giveaways.  Most of the time your local restaurant will have a Facebook page that shares upcoming events and registration information.  Also, if you have the Chick-fil-a app, you might receive an extra goodie or two during this time.

christmas 2017 4

  • Print it Out:  If your neck of the woods is under snow, then you can still have some holiday fun with your family.  Just keep your printer nearby and stock up on ink and paper before the storm hits so you can create your own fun worksheets.  I like to print out holiday mazes, scripture studies, funny word searches, and craft templates.  Try painting with homemade pudding or whip cream for your littles or find a holiday themed science project via Pinterest for your older children.  Either way, don’t let the weather hinder your household’s Jingle Bell Rock!
  • Cheers for Volunteers: Volunteering your time is the most rewarding and memorable gift you can offer during this season.  There are so many families in need and a myriad of organizations that could use your help to collect, sort, and hand out donations.  Some families even volunteer Christmas morning and then return home to open gifts.  Whether you decide to donate your money or time, you won’t receive a bigger reward than the feeling of knowing you’ve helped make a stranger’s holiday season bright.

Now, of course there are so many more freebies or low cost activities in your area but this should be enough to get you through the remainder of 2017.

Okay, okay, OKAY! I appreciate you all so much that here is one more fun freebie download that I found on the Family Education website.  Click here to download your Christmas Fun Checklist Printable

Have a great week,

Ta’Neisha K.
