Christmas FREEBIES Near You

christmas 2017 1

I thought the holiday season deserved an extra blog post this week featuring some FREE or low cost activities you can attend in your area.  Now of course the names might be slightly different but the general idea of the activity will definitely be the same.  Let’s dive into this year’s fun list wherewith you’ll be sure to find some fun things in your area to enjoy while making Christmas and New Year memories.  Keep reading because there might be a FREE Christmas Fun Checklist printable link available within this post.

Christmas Freebies & Holiday Fun List:

  • Trail of Lights: You will be surprised how creative minds can turn local city parks, race tracks, or on large plots of land in your area into a glowing tribute to the Christmas holiday.  In our area most of the trails cost approximately $5 per car or require a donation of goods to a local charity.  There are some walk through trails but we prefer to drive through the trail while eating warm baked treats and drinking hot chocolate.
  • Look in the Library:  Local libraries are also known for hosting monthly FREE activities for “kids from 1 to 92.”  At our library there is weekly story time, knitting groups, chess tournaments, book clubs, crafts for children, teens and adults, Christmas science classes, and even homeschool meet ups all available for FREE.  This information should be available on your local library’s website or social media pages.

  • Stores Offer More:  Did you know that some of your favorite stores might offer free classes or activities during this season?  Holiday themed story time at Barnes and Noble, Pottery Barn, and a few locally owned book stores is always a fun way to spend our time off from school during Winter Break.  We have also attended free or low cost holiday themed craft workshops at Lego, Michaels, and Home Depot.
  • Chick-fil-a Christmas Rocks:  This eatery is known for hosting activity nights throughout the year but during this season you might be cable to catch a week of FREE breakfast giveaways as well as free entrée gift card giveaways.  Most of the time your local restaurant will have a Facebook page that shares upcoming events and registration information.  Also, if you have the Chick-fil-a app, you might receive an extra goodie or two during this time.

  • Print it Out:  If your neck of the woods is under snow, then you can still have some holiday fun with your family.  Just keep your printer nearby and stock up on ink and paper before the storm hits so you can create your own fun worksheets.  I like to print out holiday mazes, scripture studies, funny word searches, and craft templates.  Try painting with homemade pudding or whip cream for your littles or find a holiday themed science project via Pinterest for your older children.  Either way, don’t let the weather hinder your household’s Jingle Bell Rock!
  • Cheers for Volunteers: Volunteering your time is the most rewarding and memorable gift you can offer during this season.  There are so many families in need and a myriad of organizations that could use your help to collect, sort, and hand out donations.  Some families even volunteer Christmas morning and then return home to open gifts.  Whether you decide to donate your money or time, you won’t receive a bigger reward than the feeling of knowing you’ve helped make a stranger’s holiday season bright.

Now, of course there are so many more freebies or low cost activities in your area but this should be enough to get you through the remainder of 2017.

Okay, okay, OKAY! I appreciate you all so much that here is one more fun freebie download that I found on the Family Education website.  Click here to download your Christmas Fun Checklist Printable

Have a great week,

My 4 Favorite Bible Reading Plans

Recently I shared the post about Why I Love My Bible during which I shared information about why the word should be near and dear to our hearts.  Since writing that post my Passion for studying God’s word has been reignited and I found myself learning more and more. I am so excited to share with you a few Bible plans that I have completed recently.  These plans range from 3 days to 90 days and have required me to commit to reading scripture daily.   What initialy was a monthly goal turned into a strong desire to seek God all the more.

Each plan can be  found via the YouVersion website or bible app which is available for all devices.  Depending on the plan length I would spend approximately 5 to 60 minutes studying daily. I also love that you can listen to the audio version of the scripture which became my favorite thing to do while cooking dinner.  You can also share your plan progress with your friends for extra accountability.

Before we dive in, here is my recent video about why we NEED the Bible.

Here are my recently completed favorites:

  • Bible in 90 Days came at a very hard time in my life. Over the summer we were dealing with the sickness of my father-in-law and I just found myself truly sad and discouraged.  I decided to read the entire Bible as a reminder of the all powerful God that I serve.  Doing this gave me so much comfort and also provided peace to my family as we listened in the car and at home.  If I ever missed a day I would double or triple the next reading until I caught up.  I made sure that I completed this program within exactly 90 days.

  • God, Help Me Not To Mess Up My Kids! The name says it all but doesn’t include that this was an awesome prayer plan.  I had no idea that this 5-day commitment would walk me through praying God’s word over my children and household.  As a busy mother sometimes we feel like we don’t have enough time to tarry before the Lord but this plan provided so much insight to a deep, thorough, effectual, feverent prayer life.
  • What To Say At A Funeral came at the perfect time because when my father of all past I really did not know what to say to my husband. Yes we are firm believers and I still had no words for him other than “I’m so sorry honey.”  This short reading plan provide various ways we can encourage believers who have lost their love ones.  The author also explain things that he did not want to hear and I made sure not to say those to my husband. I really think that this plan helped me be there for my family and encourage them with the word rather than my pain filled emotions.

  •  Finally, Mama Needs A Do-Over came at a time when I wanted to help encourage another homeschool mom. Turns out this plan helped me too!  Within this reading plan you will find ways to conquer, reset, and find peace in hard days.

There are so many other plans that I could share with you but I will save those for Part 2.  Right now, download the YouVersion app if you have not already and make time to dive into the word of God.  You can set reminders for your reading plans and share them with your friends so they can see your progress or lack thereof.  Sometimes I would use the app to read the scriptures but often I find myself flipping through the pages of the physical Bible.  The app is cool but there is nothing like holding the word of God.

You can find additional information about why we should study the word of God here.

We NEED The Bible!!

I love my Bible!

I posted this Facebook status update back in July of 2013 and thought it was worth sharing again today.
—–
Every Sunday I look forward to seeing a little boy at my church. Why? Well because EVERY SUNDAY he proudly shows me his Bible.  He tells me who bought it for him and why it is his favorite book.  He shows me the maps and talks about how he is going to learn about every place shown.  This is one of my favorite weekly moments because each week he is more excited about that Bible than he was the previous week.

Do you remember the day you realized that life without Christ wasn’t worth living?

Do you remember when you learned that Jesus is the only way to the Father?

Do you remember going through your ABCs (Acknowledge, Believe,  Confess)?

Do you remember the day you gave the Most High God, the only wise and true God your heart?

Do you remember when you got saved? Yes I said “got saved”.

Are you saved?

If not, don’t wait because time is running out.

I REMEMBER!! And every Sunday I’m reminded, via this child’s enthusiasm, just how important that decision was then and still is today.

———-

I thought that this was a great reminder and an opportunity to issue a couple of challenges that I shared in previous years via my YouTube channel. I am challenging myself and every reader to participate in both. Feel free to comment below and let me know which plan you are completing on the YouVersion app or which book and/or book of the Bible you are studying.  Currently I am studying the beattitudes and I’m really enjoying it. I’m also 66% through my Bible in 90 days reading plan on YouVersion.

I’d also like to share with you a quick video about a free Bible devotional for children called Keys for Kids.  You can get this daily via email, online, or mailed to you quarterly.

Today, I Need Some Encouragement

Last month, my family endured a devastating loss and after all we’ve endured, rest is definitely needed. Usually, I’ve prepared my monthly blog posts well in advance but right now, my mind is all over the place.  I am typing this completely worn out at 1:00 am CST in our hotel suite.  My family is resting after a long two weeks and I think tonightI will FINALLY get a long overdue 8 hours of sleep.  I look forward to coming back in September with a tribute to our family member and some great series but until then, enjoy these reposts and recent videos.

This week I needed some encouragement so check out my recent video about the covering of God and check out the blog post by clicking this fantastic hyperlink.

FYI: There is a Facebook Group For That

Now just in case you didn’t know, there is a FB group for whatever hobby, interest, and movement you can think of and I thought I’d share a few of my favorites with my blog family.

Group blog 2

The first group is the YTHSC which is a place where YouTubers who homeschool can connect, share ideas, laughs, and of course videos.  There are also several challenges that are hosted by members and I enjoy watching the participant’s videos.

The second group I find myself spending time weekly in is Faith and Spiritual Happy Planner which is a great place to share ideas for faith planning and bible journaling.  Members share their monthly, weekly, or daily posts in their faith based happy planners and even provide links to FREE downloads.  I started my planner hobby this year and currently have a personal classic sized happy planner, faith happy planner that I document bible studies in, and the rose gold happy planner which I use as a gratitude journal.  I enjoy the inspiration that I receive from this group.

**FREEBIE ALERT** I recently shared this FREE DOWNLOAD from Dr. Tony Evans website featuring for I AM statements based on scripture.  You can download the I AM Statements FREEBIE via this magnificent hyperlink.

Group blog 1

Last but certainly not least, I wants to share the R Kids Closet Co-Op group which is a marketplace to buy in on bulk order items for children.  In this group you can find anything from fidget spinners (3 for $10), clothes, shoes, moccasins, blankets, water balloons, bathing suits, costumes, and more.  I always shop here for baby showers and for gifts for my friends because the mommy screen t-shirts are always super cute.  Please note that items are ordered, shipped to the bulk buyer, then shipped from the bulk buyer to you.  This process does take a few weeks.  I also suggest that you double check prices via eBay or Amazon because you might find it cheaper there.  This is a rare occasion though so I usually just order through this group.

Hopefully these groups peek your interest and you’re able to make some new connections or awesome purchases.

So tell me, which Facebook groups are you a part of?

Make this week fun,

Ta’Neisha K.

Today is 4/24, let’s CELEBRATE!!

Saw this in my Facebook memories and I had to share.  You can read more about The Fragrance of a Godly Woman in my blog post.

Posted on 4/24/13

“Every year on 4/24 I’m reminded of my awesome grandmother Deborah Dunmore.

A woman whose prayers sounded like a song and I loved to hear her and bow next to her as she held a conversation with God.  A woman whose husband loved her so much he never complained about spending her last years taking care if her just as she had taken care of him for do many years prior.  REAL LIFE TILL DEATH DO US PART!

A woman who loved her children and grandchildren, of which I was the favorite, and great grandchildren <– verified!

A woman who was the strongest and tallest short woman I know, besides my mother, that was a pillar in the community and her church.  Can’t tell you how many times I would see grown folks hide their alcohol and cigarettes if they passed our house and my grandmother was outside.

A woman God loved so much that he gave her life on April 24, 1931 and called her home on April 24, 2006.  Yes she went up on her own birthday!

Life may seem long but it is so short. My grandmother never saw me get married or met my son but that’s okay because I remember her praying for my family long before I had one.  In fact our last conversation was about “this guy i met that i knew God said was my husband.”

Her last words to me were “I love you.”  Words I cherish because some never heard any and others only got a smile.  I always say she not only taught me how to live in Jesus name she taught me how to die in Jesus name.  The gain in doing so is sweet.

Cherish your family.  Demand that “drama” ceases.  You can’t get that time back.”

Be sure to watch my video about the fragrance of a Godly woman for additional encouragement.

Make today memorable,

Ta’Neisha K.
