Of Course I NEED New Makeup!

One of my favorite things about the New Year is the sales that go on and the introductions of the spring product lines from cosmetic companies.  From the looks of the announcements and blogs, this year is going to be a beautiful one for makeup.  I AM SO EXCITED!!

I am looking forward to everything that Wet N Wild has to offer because their product line has become more and more chic and trendy each year.  From the pastel and metallic products in the Spring/Summer lines to the dazzle, glow, and glitter of their holiday line I expect nothing but great things from them in 2017.  I will also be impatiently waiting for the next PRO palette from Lorac Cosmetics because each one has been more gorgeous than its predecessor.  Finally, I am staying on the lookout for anything Juvia’s Place has to offer because their products have been a true asset to my personal collection.

Recently I was able to catch some awesome products on sale and received several as gifts during the holiday season.  To see what new beauties I’ve added to my makeup collection check out my recent video.

I can’t wait to see what the 2017 makeup trends will be and how every person will individualize them.  But for now, I will enjoy the gorgeous items I just unboxed and do my best to avoid another makeup sale.

I mean it! I am going to sit on my hands when the next beauty item pops up on my Instagram feed.

No, for real!  I’m not buying anymore makeup.

Okay, I don’t mean like never, but for a really, really, really, really long time.

Yep, at least three or four months because that is a reasonable amount of time to wait before buying something new.

Seriously! I feel like you don’t believe me.  You can trust me to run the other direction.

Who am I kidding?  I’m weak.

Make this week beautiful,

Study. Journal. Pray. Repeat.

Prior to marriage and children I remember having so much time on my hands.  I could read an entire book within three days and study on a whim so finding time for personal bible study was never an issue.  Lately, tending to husband and chasing our three arrows often left me wondering if I had time to add anything else to my schedule.  But, I thank God for the revelation that we are all given the same twenty-four hours each day and will make time for what is important to us.

Nowadays, I make time daily to study scripture then pray and write about what I’ve read.  I also realize that when I don’t spend that time with God I feel empty after some time because my prayer and study time energizes me.  I’m also grateful that I don’t always study the scripture alone because I enjoy learning from my husband and in women’s fellowship.  It is my prayer that every scripture read is done so with understanding and willingness to subsequently grow.  I also believe that if I need further clarification God will provide it via additional research, sermons, or conversations with other mature believers.

All these and a myriad of other questions can be asked when bible study is discussed, planned, and/or created.

  • When you read your bible what is your purpose?
  • Do you truly listen to each word as you recite it in your head or aloud?
  • Do you desire to learn something new?
  • Do you grow when the word prunes you or do you ignore what you just read?
  • Do you see the issues of others while reading the bible or are you focused on what God wants you to learn during study time?
  • Do you make time to memorize scripture and teach your children to do the same?
  • Do you have a version you can understand?
  • Do you compare what you’ve read in alternate versions to the 1611 KJV?

I can’t answer these for you but I will say that as we mature spiritually, our answers should change as well.

In 2017 it is imperative that every believer become a student of the word more so than ever before.  So many things are going on around us and there are many that claim to be Christians without ever truly meeting Christ.  Often, church members hear the preacher but don’t make time to be the Berean and study to ensure his three points and anecdote match up with the text.  If we call ourselves “people of God (through Jesus Christ)” shouldn’t we desire to read the book our faith is based on?  Shouldn’t we desire to be more than milk fed babes that only repeat cliché’s for strength rather than the precise scripture that should be hid in our hearts?  Shouldn’t our our words and deeds portray the fruit of the spirit of God?  Dear believer, don’t let this be you in 2017!

This year, find a bible that you can understand but be sure you read it alongside the 1611 KJV.  This year, commit to memorizing several verses, entire chapters, and then complete books of scripture.  This year be the friend or family member that can provide powerful prayer and encouragement from the scriptures when asked or as the Holy Spirit leads. This year be the church member that can say “Pastor, in December when you preached Before Goliath, from 1 Samuel 17:33-37, I love how you compared the preparation David had in the fields through bravery, being underestimated, and even slaying several animals much bigger than him to our spiritual growth process. You did an awesome job of breaking down the importance of preparation and not trying to go forward in ministry before Gods timing.”

This year study, journal, pray about what God has shown you and repeat this process daily.  This year be a direct reflection of life CHRISTstyle through your fruit and holiness.  This year teach your children the holy scriptures, which are able to make them wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15).  Never underestimate the power of the unblemished, God breathed scripture because it is truly the LIVING WORD that prunes and molds us for growth naturally and spiritually.

Make this week reflective,

Ta’Neisha K. Curriculum Review

Our homeschool, Team KEMP Academy, was given the awesome opportunity to review Yearly Membership with a phenomenal, fully stocked, subscription curriculum website called  This website consists of over three hundred courses and resources ranging from preschool to high school covering math, language arts, science, reading, writing, art, music, foreign languages, computer programming and other electives.  But wait, there’s more!  You can also access unit studies, parent’s courses and assistance, bible studies, monthly menus, custom schedules; special needs focused options, and video lessons.  Upon arrival to this site I was a bit overwhelmed, in a great way, by everything that was offered and I can’t wait to share my experience with you. has been brought to us by The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine and my favorite part was noting that this website is not aligned with Common Core.  So far we have enjoyed using the Preschool Playground section and have started the ABC: What Will I Be course with our 3 year old, Bam Bam.  I loved the idea of this course because it breaks down the alphabet by careers and introduces children to the letter as well as math, science, sensory play, and crafts for twenty-six careers.  I love setting up the sensory play for the careers and allowing Bam Bam’s imagination to roam as he plays while he learns.  We are also using the Pre-K Activities Read and Play lessons for story time which provide activities and recipes to correspond with local library books, bible stories, and holidays.

As a mom, I’m often reminded that what works for one child, might not work for the next one so I was so excited to see that a myriad of additional resources are provided to ensure the parents and students have smooth transitions to each level of homeschooling.  The Literacy Center provides preparation and reading for preschool through second grade as well as comprehension for third and fourth grades.  I’ve been using this section to prepare poetry lessons for our third grader, Bear, and I love how it breaks down each essential skill for understanding content no matter what the genre. also provides each member with a complimentary subscription to World Book e-book Library website and includes a list of classes that correspond with the library.  The Focused Learning Centers provide direct links to courses, lessons, and articles that can aid in educating children that are struggling in specific areas.  In the Special Needs area you will also find articles, tips, encouragement, and a nineteen part program to help families prepare, modify, and adapt lessons to teach their children.  The High School Help area includes information on creating transcripts; assigning credits to courses, taking standardize tests for college, and finding and applying for scholarships.

This website has been a great tool in lesson planning for our next semester of school and family bible study.  I have checked out something new in the Just For Parent’s section each day and found numerous bible studies, marriage enrichment videos, recipes and monthly menus (Yes, one less thing to do!), and homeschooling tips.  I definitely encourage you to consider Yearly Membership and see what all they have to offer your entire family.  There is also a monthly membership option as well as substantial discounts for civil servants, HSLDA or Home Life Academy members, coo-ops and homeschool groups that qualify.

January Weight Loss Goals

Like most, I used to set my New Year’s resolutions with plenty of hope for success but little to no follow through for action.  In October of 2016, I decided enough was truly enough because “nothing changes if nothing changes” and I that’s when I noticed a difference.  I am so excited to kick off 2017 actively pursuing my resolutions in weight loss and journaling on a daily basis.  I couldn’t believe I met my goal for last month and I am so enthusiastic about what the remainder of 2017 will reveal as I grow in strength physically and spiritually.

In 2017, I have an annual weight loss goal of 120 pounds, by losing 10 pounds each month.  I’d definitely consider that an aggressive goal, however; I am more than sure that true diligence will pay off tremendously.  I am enjoying the workouts and the healthy eating habits.  I had already started changing our household dietary regimen two years ago so fine tuning for weight loss hasn’t been a scary transition.  I look forward to trying the new recipes I see on social media and on the weight loss apps I frequent.  Most dishes have turned out to be savory and loved by the whole family while others only require a bit of tweaking thus becoming our next favorite.  Finally, I’m enjoying the accountability I’ve received from family, especially my husband and children, friends, and on social media.  I’ve received so much support on this journey thus far and it is truly encouraging to me.

This month, I’ve set several goals and placed them on my Fitlosophy Monthly Motivational Goal Calendar (FREE download)  which I’ve hung on the refrigerator.  I’ve also recommitted to setting weekly goals, small rewards, and even tracking my food and exercise in my fitbook.  To hear my goals for the month of January, see my sweet reward for last month, and see how I log my workouts on the motivational calendar watch my recent video.

All in all 2017 is off to a great start! Let’s support one another in completing our resolutions and being successful in all areas of life.

Make this week triumphant,

Ta’Neisha K.

You Need A Prayer Journal!

Happy New Year! I am so grateful for a fresh calendar year on the earth and look forward to applying the growth from 2016 into 2017.  This year I wanted to start with a focus on encouragement and equipping the believers for what is to come.  So, let’s talk about my renewed passion for prayer and prayer journaling!

I love journals! I love the idea of keeping a written log of life events and being able to go back and look at them after time has passed.  I love cute journals! I love have journals with girly designs, scriptures, inspirational quotes, and beautiful landscape pictures. With everything I loved about the hobby, I had yet to completely fill the pages of a book, until recently.  I started journaling scripture and my passion for this pastime was revived with true diligence over several topics.   I’ve started journaling through each book of the bible, which I will discuss next month, and created a prayer notebook/journal to help me pray with power.  To hear my tips on praying with power and see some tools I use during my prayer time, check out my recent video.

In the Praying with Power video I showed several books and prayer calendars I have found to help focus my prayer time each month. You can download these calendars for FREE via the hyperlinks provided.  All books are available from various in-store and online retailers; however, the e-book can be downloaded for free via Amazon.

FREE Prayer Charts/Calendars:

It is truly my hope that this post has encouraged you to reevaluate your prayer life and make a commitment to taking your conversations with God, through Jesus Christ, to another level.  As we grow spiritually so should our prayer life and study time.  Make time in 2017 to teach your children about the importance of prayer and how to do so powerfully so their petitions will be heard.  Now, more than ever, we need to use our weapon of prayer to strengthen each other and give the army of the Lord fortitude to endure until the end.

This month I will be focusing on the power of prayer, prayer journaling, bible study, scripture memorization, and journaling through the bible.  Check back each week for a new POWER POST to equip and encourage every believer.

Make this week prayerful,

Ta’Neisha K.
